Post 2: 5 Reasons to Switch to Natural Bar Soap

Most of us grew up using whatever soap was in the shower without thinking much about it. But if you've been dealing with dry, sensitive, or reactive skin, your soap might be part of the problem.

Here are five reasons to make the switch to natural bar soap.

1. It's gentler on sensitive skin

Commercial body washes and soap bars often contain synthetic detergents (look for sodium lauryl sulfate on the label) that can disrupt your skin's natural barrier. Natural bar soap — especially cold-process — cleanses without stripping, making it a better choice for eczema-prone, dry, or reactive skin.

2. It retains natural glycerin

Handcrafted soap keeps the glycerin that forms during saponification. Glycerin is a humectant — it draws moisture to the skin. Commercial manufacturers remove it. Natural soap makers don't.

3. You know exactly what's in it

A short, readable ingredient list is a good sign. When you can recognize every ingredient — olive oil, shea butter, lavender essential oil — you know what's going on your skin.

4. It's better for the environment

Bar soap uses less packaging than bottled body wash and doesn't require plastic. Many natural soap makers (including us) use minimal, recyclable packaging. Less waste, same clean.

5. It actually lasts

A well-made, fully cured bar of cold-process soap outlasts most body washes ounce for ounce. You use less per wash, and the bar holds up longer in the shower.
